Blog: 001

I begin this first blog with immense gratitude for the special beings that surround me. These are the people you hang on to—they are the roots!

I recently came across a concept that beautifully describes the different types of people in our lives. There are many versions of this, but I love its simple and profound meaning:

There are people in your life who are like leaves. They are there for a moment, and once the wind hits, they float away. Then, you have the branch people. They come into your life and stay for a longer duration, but once the branch becomes weak—for reasons one may never know—they fall away. Lastly, you have your root people. They have been there a very long time and are not going away. They stand by you as you stand by them.

I am so blessed with the root people in my life.

Now, let’s talk about Mary’s home-cooked meals and how I got here! Simply put, COVID made me a chef. It was a bizarre time in our lives, but it also made the world stop, and we stopped. It became clear that the life I once knew was gone, and I embarked on a new career.

I began with a couple of startups, one being Gather Made, and I am incredibly grateful they showed up. This business taught me that I could create beautiful meals and manage the business process. I have always loved to cook, create, and entertain, which I have done, but what I love about cooking now is that I can explore and try many different cuisines, such as Italian, Greek, Spanish, Indian, Mexican, and Chinese. There are a few more, and in the last three years, I have created and prepared over 6,000 meals!

As many of you know, Gather Made was unable to continue, but the customers were still hungry, so I just kept going! And just like that, I am going again. I look forward to continuing to bring you the food you love. By the way, I love a recommendation or a favorite dish request!

Thank you again, my friends!

Chef Mary :)

My spouse and I just had our first "Mary's Meal" (Nieman Marcus Chicken Casserole) and were very happy with it.

We shared the leftovers with our 94yo neighbor who has only cooked from scratch (we would get a from-scratch birthday cake every year) but now she finds that she can't follow her own recipes, so isn't cooking anymore. As a result, she may not be eating enough (one egg and toast for dinner), and certainly not eating foods that make you want to eat!

With the clear ingredients list in Mary's menus, and the absolutely homemade taste, I was certain this casserole would be welcome!

Thank you for this food that nourished the body and the friendship.

Hi Mary, We’ve ordered your meals several times, love them and have used a credit card. We have a running credit, how can we apply this running credit? There does not appear to be any place to enter a credit. Thanks, Pat Cleary

Hi Mary: I've been trying to get an order in to you - without success. Where is the

order confirmation, and the place for the credit card? THanks, Marilyn Henderson
